Our Services

At Hill's, we offer a range of services tailored to meet the individual needs of each animal patient. Please read below to learn more about each of our services.

Hydrotherapy

Canine hydrotherapy utilises the properties of water to support rehabilitation, fitness and overall wellbeing in dogs. The buoyancy of water reduces stress on joints while providing gentle resistance to build strength, improve mobility, and aid recovery from injury or surgery.

Hydrotherapy Rehabilitation

Our rehabilitation package used for dogs who have undergone recent surgery or as an option instead of surgery. They may have post-operative physiotherapy requirements, joint disease or neurological disorders. Hydrotherapy can also be carried out before an operation to help with recovery time and reduce muscle wastage.

Physiotherapy & Laser Therapy

Physiotherapy is designed to improve your dog's functionality and capabilities.

We use a variety of non-invasive techniques (manual, remedial exercises & electrotherapies including laser therapy) to target compromised or malfunctioning elements of the musculoskeletal or neurological systems. This form of treatment can be beneficial alongside hydrotherapy or entirely on its own.

Fun, fitness & Puppy Swims

Improves cardio-vascular fitness as well as increase muscle mass, weight management or simply to have fun in the water. We also offer a puppy swim package for puppies 16 weeks to 1 year. Helping to develop confidence in the water as well as providing non-weight bearing exercise, putting no pressure on growing joints.

What to expect from your first visit

Whether your dog is attending for physiotherapy or hydrotherapy, the first appointment will begin with a discussion of their medical history and a gait assessment on land. For physiotherapy patients, this is followed by a hands-on assessment of joints, muscles and movement to develop an individual treatment plan. For hydrotherapy patients, the focus is on helping your dog become comfortable with the aquatic environment while assessing their movement in the water. At the end of the session we will discuss our findings, recommendations and any ongoing treatment or home care plans.

"My Lab Merlin has been going to Hill's since he's been suffering with Arthritis after having elbow dysplasia. He was putting on weight and loosing muscle mass due to reduced exercise. Since he's been having regular swimming and treadmill sessions he has lost weight and gained movement and strength back and is much more mobile and active. I can't recommend the staff at Hills enough they really are a great team very knowledgeable and supportive they really have changed Merlins life, I can't thank them enough."

"I brought our elderly whippet/lurcher cross Benji for hydrotherapy on the treadmill for over a year. Although never a water lover, Benji soon found his feet and regular hydrotherapy did wonders for his mobility and even prolonged his life. Katherine and her team were superb - knowledgeable, caring, friendly and always keen to do as much as possible to help Benji keep moving. Benji just made it to the age of 17 thanks in no small part to Katherine and her team. I shall miss my weekly visits."
